International Symposium on the Islamic Architectural Heritage of Shusha
October 11-13, 2024 – Shusha, Azerbaijan
From October 11 to 13, 2024, the city of Shusha hosted a prestigious international symposium dedicated to Islamic architectural heritage, bringing together experts from around the world. Organized by the Shusha State Reserve, the event featured roundtable discussions, presentations, and panels in three languages (English, French, and Arabic), with simultaneous translation available.
The symposium focused on three main themes:
1. Regeneration of the historical urban fabric of Shusha – strategies for post-conflict restoration and preservation.
2. The contemporary life of monuments – rehabilitation and future use of historical buildings.
3. Sustainable architecture– materials, project design, and implementation in restoration practices.
The event fostered an exchange of innovative ideas and experiences for the preservation of the city’s cultural heritage, recently liberated and undergoing reconstruction.
